Coastal Mountains Land Trust Preserves
Coastal Mountains Land Trust owns several thousand acres of the mountainous region west of Penobscot Bay as permanent conservation land. These Preserves include many of the natural highlights of this area, and are managed to protect wildlife habitat and biodiversity, while providing a natural laboratory for environmental education and opportunities for low-impact outdoor recreation.
Please observe the following use restrictions on our Preserves:
- all Preserves are open for low-impact public access during daylight hours
- wheeled vehicles and horses are not allowed due to trail damage
- Note: The Land Trust does maintain site specific trail agreements with various clubs to allow for limited snowmobile and mountain bike use of trails on our conservation lands.
- camping and fires are not allowed
- hunting is permitted on all properties except on the Fernald's Neck, Hodson, Harkness, McPheters and Young's Neck Preserves.
- hunting of predators and trapping is forbidden
- removal of wildflowers and plants is not allowed
- dogs must be leashed at all times
- Note: Dogs not permitted at all at the Fernald's Neck Preserve
- commercial groups and groups larger than 12 must obtain Land Trust permission prior to use of our properties --- contact us

Please note that while all of our preserves are open to the public, only those that have been determined to be well suited to broad public visitation and which have established trail systems include a Preserve Guide and a trail map in a downloadable PDF format (opens in Adobe Reader).
