Jo & Skip Pendleton Stewardship Fund
Ensuring trail stewardship in Waldo County
GOAL: Coastal Mountains Land Trust is seeking to raise $75,000 and to date, we have raised over $40k! We anticipate an application process for the spring/summer of 2019.
PROJECT: This fund will fund an annual internship for a student of environmental conservation and/or land management who wants to work on preserves, trails and projects throughout Waldo County. The Pendleton Intern will work on a specific project each summer. He/she will also assist with stewardship of trails and preserves throughout the Land Trust service area. This individual will be supervised by the Land Trust but may work alongside Friends of Sears Island, the City of Belfast, the Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition to increase participation and enjoyment of natural amenities throughout greater Belfast.
HISTORY: Skip and Joe Pendleton were both involved with the Land Trust. Skip served on the Board of Directors and was a consistent volunteer on weekly stewardship work crews in both the Camden and Belfast areas for nearly 20 years. He was also an Appalachian Trail Steward and a dedicated volunteer with the Belfast Bay Watershed Coalition and Hills to the Sea Trail. His priority was trail building and maintenance as well as teaching skills and enjoying the fellowship of kindred spirits working outdoors.
