SUMMARY:Wednesday Waldo Walk: Fernalds Neck
DESCRIPTION:This hike is being lead by our outstanding volunteer\, Bindy Pendleton.  Her deep family roots in mid-coast Maine\, paired with her ecologist’s eye\, allow her to weave together stories of local conservation coupled with spontaneous natural historical observations. \nThis is a moderate 2 to 3.5 -mile loop which includes hemlock groves\, glacial erratics\, stands of mature pines\, a plethora of mushroom species\, and views of Megunticook lake.   \nBring: water\, sunscreen\, tick protection\, and binoculars\, if you would like.  \nRide share: If you are interested in carpooling from Belfast\, feel free to meet Bindy in the Reny’s parking lot at 9:30 am.  \nPlease call Bindybefore Wednesday Sept. 10 for additional carpooling details.  207-323-0817  \nRegister: contact leaht@coastalmountains.org  \nDirections: From Lincolnville Center\, take Rt. 52 south for 2 miles\, then turn right onto Fernalds Neck road. Follow this road to its end\, staying left at the fork.  From Camden\, take Rt. 52/Mountain Street north for 5.8 miles\, turning left onto Fernalds Neck Road.  Please drive slowly and use the parking lot\, so there aren’t any vehicles parked along the road.
