DESCRIPTION:Otter Trails\, a Belfast-based homeschool group\, will host a festive luminary walk along\nthe trails of Head of Tide Preserve in Belfast on Thursday\, December 19 th from 4p.m.-\n6p.m! Join us for for a magical walk\, songs\, and hot apple cider.\nOtter Trails is a three-day-a-week homeschooling enrichment program for children 8-11\nwith a focus on nature education and learning through community engagement. This\nfall\, they have been using the Head of Tide preserve as their home base.\nThis event is free and open to everyone! No registration is required. Hot apple cider will\nbe served while supplies last.\nDirections: From downtown Belfast\, take Main Street west and immediately turn right\nonto Waldo Avenue. In 1.5 miles\, turn right onto Doak Road. Parking area is on the right\nimmediately after Doak’s Machine Shop.

But is Maine a little ‘weird\,’ a bit different but in a good way? Bob Duchesne thinks so\, and he explains in a humorous and informative talk\, “Why Maine is Weird.”\nBob Duchesne is well-known for his birding columns and for his entertaining and educational YouTube videos. He is the author of the Maine Birding Guide\, a book and an online tool that helps birders find Maine birds. Bob is a lifelong birder\, a close observer of all birds and in the natural habitat that supports them.\nCoastal Mountains Land Trust’s Waldo County Conservation Initiative continues to build a fund to conserve land within large ecologically significant areas that preserve the most diverse ecosystems in our region\, and special properties valued by our community\, that provide for trails\, access to lakes\, rivers and the ocean\, and spaces for outdoor learning.
