SUMMARY:Coastal Mountains Nature Program talk – All About iNaturalist
DESCRIPTION:On Tuesday\, September 12\, at 6:30 pm\, the Camden Public Library\, in partnership with the Coastal Mountains Land Trust\, welcomes Maine Master Naturalist Roger Rittmaster for a fascinating presentation on one of the world’s most popular and exciting nature apps: iNaturalist. \nSince Rittmaster’s last talk at the Camden Public Library\, iNaturalist has grown incredibly\, in its size\, number of users\, and applications. The program will start with the basics of using iNaturalist to identify unknown species\, and Rittmaster will demonstrate how to use the Explore function to learn more about plants and animals of interest. He will provide tips and tricks to make the most of this tool and show how it can allow even the most amateur naturalist the ability to communicate with experts all over the world. \nThis is a hybrid program and will take place in person in the Picker Room at the Camden Public Library as well as on Zoom. Please visit the “What’s Happening” adults events calendar at librarycamden.org to register for a Zoom link to attend this webinar.

SUMMARY:Art Gone Wild: Peter Walls & Allegra Kuhn
DESCRIPTION:In collaboration with Waterfall Arts\, Art Gone Wild hosts artists at Stover and Head of Tide Preserves for installations of their work free to the community. Our last micro-residency for the year features artists Peter Walls & Allegra Kuhn\, who will festoon the trails of Stover Preserve! \nThe tree\, once aesthetically enhanced\, becomes something other than a“tree” and into something to reflect upon\, honor\, and revere.  \nThrough the act of seeing\, experiencing\, and searching out inspiration in the flora and fauna of Stover and Head of The Tide Preserves we will create 12 pendants to adorn some of the oldest trees\, the Hemlock and Cedars along the river’s edge of Stover Preserve that have watched over the property and the river itself the longest of any trees on this parcel\, for the past 80 to 100 years-  The Witness Trees as some would call them.  On this riverside “catwalk” \, donning their jewelry\, twelve 2.5’ x 4’ pendants inspired by the preserve itself\, we will create a living gallery for visitors to experience. \nPeter Walls and Allegra Kuhn are Artists living and working in MidCoast Maine. Peter is known for his shaped panel mural work throughout New England and Allegra for her colorful and joyous abstract paintings.  They both find inspiration in the Maine landscape\, the creatures which inhabit it\, and how humans interact with their surroundings here.

SUMMARY:Arts on the Hill: Bennett Konesni
DESCRIPTION:Coastal Mountains Land Trust’s Arts on the Hill program brings Bennett Konesni to Beech Hill Preserve on Thursday\, September 28 from 5:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. \nYou’ve heard of “whistle while you work\,” but did you know there is a long history of folks singing while they work? Just think of some of the old sea shanties. Farmer and internationally acclaimed folk musician Bennett Konesni is an expert on the songs that farmers\, loggers\, and sailors alike have sung to pass the time and foster unity. At moonrise we’re going to sing call and response songs from the Hindi tradition called Kirtan\, with Shepsi Eaton from Darthia Farm in Gouldsboro. \nCome on up the hill for your chance to join in the singing! Refreshments will be served. \nThis promises to be a wonderful end to our summer series! Free and open to all ages but please leave your dogs at home.\nThis season’s Arts on the Hill music series is brought to you by our lead sponsors Cold Mountain Builders and Emily & Jonathan McDevitt\, and our partner sponsors Bangor Savings Bank\, Camden Coast Real Estate\, and Maine Coast Orthodontics.
