SUMMARY:Coastal Flooding Monitoring - Lincolnville Beach
DESCRIPTION:Are you concerned about coastal flooding in our community? We’re joining the Gulf of Maine Research Institute’s efforts to collect data at sites vulnerable to flooding. This data is critical to informing community actions towards preventing flood damage and raising awareness about the impacts of climate change.  \nIf you want to learn how to contribute to this important community science project or learn about how vulnerable your neighborhood is to coastal flooding\, join us at Lincolnville Beach at 12PM on Monday\, March 11th.This high tide is predicted to be over 11feet. We will make observations\, record and submit data\, and share information about how you can adopt your own site for the project.  \nWe will meet at the beach parking lot on Route 1 across the street from the Post Office.  \nContact maevec@coastalmountains.orgto register. All ages are welcome to participate!

DESCRIPTION:Join the Community Health team partnering with Coastal Mountains Land Trust to get outdoors and stay active with guided community hikes this year. All levels are welcome\, however\, please leave your pets home. Registering in advance is not required\, however\, you will receive emailed reminders and weather updates if you choose to sign up here. \nTrailhead: Ducktrap Preserve in Lincolnville \nDirections: From Lincolnville Center\, drive north on Route 52 for 3.5 miles. You will descend into a valley before a steep hill. The trailhead is located on the left\, about 100 yards after Route 52 crosses the Ducktrap River. Park along the road. \nRegister here! \nThis hike is 2 miles and the level is easy\, but grips or spikes for shoes are recommended for icy or muddy conditions; please also be aware of ticks during this time of year. \nThe group will meet at trailheads throughout Knox and Waldo Counties on the first Thursday of each month at 10:00AM. \nAll hikes will be led by Coastal Mountains Land Trust staff members and a MaineHealth Community Health staff member.
