Trail Closures & Conditions

Current trail conditions as of 2/9/2026:

All preserve and trails are open, however most CMLT trailheads are not plowed.

Fernalds Neck, Beech Hill (both trailheads), Ragged Mountain Thorndike Brook, Ducktrap River, and Head of Tide are plowed by CMLT. Others such as Long Cove Headwaters and Marsh Meadow are often but not always plowed by generous community members.

Cross country ski info. CMLT does not groom any trails regularly for XC skiing. However we have a number of trails that are suitable for XC skiing (classic) when snow conditions are good. We recommend the following:

  • Ducktrap River trail from Route 52 is open to snowmobiles and is an easy to moderate difficulty trail. Go up the river on an out and back or down towards Tanglewood.
  • Long Cove Headwaters blue loop is mostly flat, easy difficulty trail loop.
  • Round the Mountain Trail on Ragged Mountain from Thorndike Brook. Moderate to expert difficulty trail. Has many up and downs and curves but the smooth multiuse trail provides a rewarding ski for those looking for a challenge.
  • Marsh Meadow has a 1 mile moderate difficulty ski trail (only open in the winter). Much of it is flat but there is a short steep hill to navigate to get to the meadow.
