Trail Closures & Conditions

Current trail conditions as of March 20, 2023:

  • Fernalds Neck Preserve is closed due to mud conditions.

  • Winter trailheads: we only plow the following trailheads, Beech Hill (both), Ragged Mountain Thorndike Brook, Fernalds Neck, and Head of Tide. Other lots may be plowed or accessible but do not expect them to be with snow still on the ground.

  • Ducktrap River Preserve: the large bridge across the river, 1.5 miles up the trail from Route 52, has fallen. The river is impassable in the winter, spring, and after rain. Cross at your own risk and only during periods of low water. The trail on the other side of the river may not be cleared of blowdowns.

  • Main Stream Preserve: Due to recent beaver activity, a 300 ft section of trail, 0.25 mile from the trailhead at Sherer Road is flooded. At high water it may be impassable, or passable with rubber boots. We are working on a long term solution.
